The house at 701 Linda Vista Avenue is a good intact example of Pasadena Modernism as it was practiced during the Mid-twentieth century, and retains a high degree of integrity from the period of significance. The house was designed by locally significant architect Leland Evison who attended the USC School of Architecture and designed several residences in Pasadena. The Shonbach house was published in Progressive Architecture in 1953. The house meets the criteria for listing as a City of Pasadena Landmark under Criterion C: It embodies the distinctive characteristics of a locally significant architectural style, property type, architect and period.
