A variation from the Craftsman styling so popular in the 1900-1920 era, this Colonial Revival court has a more staid, more formal appearance than the rustic Craftsman courts of the period. The perfect symmetry and order of the units blend well with the later Beaux Arts buildings nearby in the Civic Center. Designed by Cyril Bennett, who later contributed to the design of the Civic Auditorium as well as to other prominent Pasadena buildings, Colonial Court is an early example of his work.
Ann Scheid, Barbara Drachlis 2/1979
