Constructed in 1961, the Swiss Lodge is eligible as a local landmark due to its distinctive 1960s fantasy design. The A-frame structure fronting on Colorado Boulevard contributes to the streetscape, and is rarely used in the design of commercial buildings in Pasadena. The exterior of the motel has not been altered since it was surveyed in 1987.
