Resource Description: |
This two-story post-and-beam house by the regionally significant architectual firm of Buff, Straub & Hensman is sited near the center of the property and has a strong street presence beginning with two plaster-coated retaining walls that step back to the house itself. The house has a flat roof and relatively blank stucco walls with visible wood framing. The double wood front doors are located on the second floor and are accessed via an exterior staircase tucked behind a solid screen wall. Also on the second floor is a room and balcony which project perpendicular to the main horizontal building mass, and float above the ground supported by wood posts and beams which are integrated with the balcony railing. The street-facing elevation has a relatively low level of glazing. Wood screens are used in a few locations in place of windows.
