The Dahlstrom House is the only building in the City of Pasadena designed by expressionist architect John Lautner. The house is representative of Lautner's early work and features a rounded carport. Lautner is considered one of the 20th century's most important American architects and was an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright. The house retains integrity, is a good example of an expressionistic modernist design and, therefore, is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places under criterion C.
